Reiki is a Holistic Healing practice -including mind-body-emotional and spiritual healing. It is all encompassing, giving the body space and a chance to heal, thereby activating it’s own healing mechanisms.
Here are a 3 basic principles Reiki is based upon:
Compassion is an essential element in this healing modality. If you are someone who is sensitive to others needs and to your environment this may be an excellent technique for you. Reiki helps us channel our compassionate nature in a way that is productive and does not “drain” ourselves. By accessing the universal life force that is all around us we are fed constantly. This universal energy source is like an endless river that we can access if we are feeling depleted in any way. This sense is very empowering and can be accessed at any time.
Intention is having a purpose of an outcome. When we begin a project or any task with a clear intention that task will be easier to complete. With more focus on the outcome it will be more effortless and focused as we move through the steps of achieving our goals. Intention in Reiki healing clarifies and creates a positive effectiveness to the work and any goal. For example: a job interview, snow shoveling or healing ourselves.
Gratitude, also a major principle of Reiki healing. In life there is grace. If we are caught up in greed and desire we fail to recognize grace. We fail to have gratitude. Focus on what we want and not what we have leaves us constantly hungry and never satisfied. We have the ability to be fed all the time in our lives by this connection to source energy. It is our choice, like a light switch to turn it on or to leave it off. Noticing what we are grateful for creates an immediate shift in our perspective and allows us to be a positive vessel in which the Reiki Healing can flow easily.
